Sabine Cessou

Sabine Cessou is a French freelance journalist based in Brussels who writes on African and European matters for Le Monde diplomatique (blog "Mots d'Afrique"), La Croix and Radio France Internationale (RFI). She also writes regularly for La Chronique d'Amnesty International Politique Internationale and Geo. Former reporter for Jeune Afrique Economie (1992-97) and L'Autre Afrique (1997-99), she was a correspondent for Libération, La Tribune, La Tribune de Genève and Radio France Internationale in Johannesburg (1998-2003) and Amsterdam (2005-09). Based in Paris between 2009 and 2017, she has been an Africa reporter for Liberation (2010-11), Slate Afrique (2011-13) and Afrique Magazine (2011-17). An editor of the OECD/AfDB/UNDP yearly reports African Economic Outlook (2006-17), she currently works as an editor of the OECD/AU reports African Economic Dynamics. She has worked for the PCNS as a Research Fellow since April 2018, acting as an international press officier during the Atlantic Dialogues conferences in 2017 and 2018. Her publications include a political biography (Winnie Mandela, l'âme noire de l'Afrique du Sud, Calmann-Lévy, Paris, 2007, co-written with Stephen Smith), a portrait of a city through its inhabitants (Johannesburg : la fin de l'apartheid, et après ?, Autrement, Paris, 2008) and a coffee-table book on South Afria (L'Afrique du Sud, Editions du chêne, Paris, 2010).
