Brussels Forum 2019
The German Marshall Fund's Brussels Forum is an annual high-level meeting of the most influential North American and European political, corporate, and intellectual leaders to address pressing challenges currently facing both sides of the Atlantic. Participants include heads of state, senior officials from the European Union institutions and the member states, U.S. cabinet officials, U.S. congressional representatives, parliamentarians, academics, and media.
Leaders on both sides of the Atlantic continue to deepen transatlantic cooperation on a vast array of distinctly new and global challenges from the international financial crisis to climate change and energy security to the retention of high-skilled workers, yet there is no single transatlantic forum focused on this broad and increasingly complex global agenda. GMF's Brussels Forum provides a venue for the transatlantic community to address these pressing issues. By bringing together leading politicians, thinkers, journalists, and business representatives, GMF's Brussels Forum helps shape a new transatlantic agenda that can adapt to changing global realities and new threats.
Prior to the Forum, a Young Professionals Summit will be held over two days, as an important opportunity for rising stars to grow, gain new skill sets, engage in peer learning, interact with senior leaders and influence transatlantic policy debates.
The Policy Center for the New South is partner of the Brussels Forum that will take place 26-29 June around the theme « A World Disrupted ». It will be represented by Ambassador Mohammed Loulichki, Senior Fellow who will speak during the Breakout Dinner "NATO and the South", and Ambassador Nouzha Chekrouni who will speak during the session "Disruptive Demographics - People, Places and Politics" at the Young Professionals Summit.

Mohammed Loulichki
Mr. Loulichki is a Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South, previously known as OCP Policy Center, who focuses on Diplomacy, conflicts resolution and Human rights. He has an extensive experience of 40 years in diplomacy and legal affairs. He assumed inter alia the functions of Head of the Department of Legal Affairs and Treaties in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was also Ambassador of Morocco in Hungary, Bosnia – Herzegovina and Croatia (1995-1999), Ambassador Coordinator of the Government of Morocco with MINURSO (1999 – 2001), Ambassador of Morocco to the United Nations in Geneva (2006-2008) and New York (2001-2003 and 2008-2014), as well as President of the Security Council (December 2014).
Mr. Loulichki was appointed President of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the Security Council (2013), President of the working Group on Peace Keeping Operations (2012), Vice-President of the Human Rights Council (2006), Facilitator of the Universal Periodic Review of the said Council (2006 and 2010) and President of the National Committee in charge of the follow up on nuclear matters (2003-2006).

Nouzha Chekrouni
Dr. Nouzha Chekrouni has made a longstanding career as a politician, a diplomat and a professor. She was the Kingdom of Morocco’s Ambassador to Canada between 2009 and 2016. Prior to that role, Dr. Chekrouni served as Minister for the Moroccan Community Residing Abroad (2002-2007), as a member of Parliament (2002-2007), and as Minister for Women and Social Issues (1998-2002). She holds a Bachelor Degree from the Philological Faculty at the University of Fez, a Post-Graduate Diploma and a PhD in Linguistics from Université Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris.
Dr. Chekrouni has also completed a Certificate in Ethics and International Relations at Harvard University. She is a 2016 Senior Fellow in Advanced Leadership at Harvard University and has taught linguistics at the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences at the University of Meknes.
