Call For Volunteers: The Energy Transition, NDCs, and the Post-COP21

OCP Policy Center, the International Monetary Fund and the Center on Global Economic Governance at Columbia University are seeking volunteers to provide support at the Marrakesh High Level Event “The Energy Transition, NDCs, and the Post-COP21” , a major seminar taking place September 08-09, 2016 at the Sofitel Hotel in Marrakesh.

In partnership with the International Monetary Fund and the Center on Global Economic Governance at Columbia University, OCP Policy Center will host a two-day event on September 08-09, 2016 in Marrakesh on the theme of ‘The Energy Transition, NDCs, and the Post-COP21’. The timing of this convening is crucial as Marrakech will be gearing up to host the COP22, dubbed as the COP of actions. Therefore, participants in this important event will be able to positively contribute to this round of climate change discussions.

Prominent experts from international organizations, research institutes and academia, as well as selected professionals in policy and business will share perspectives on energy transition, carbon pricing, climate change agreements, to name a few. The conference will also yield papers in the discussed subjects to benefit both participants as well as interested external stakeholders.

Qualifications: Fluency in English and preferably French or Arabic, excellent communication skills as well as strong interest in challenges facing economy, environment and social issues are preferred. Attendance at orientation on September 06, team meetings and the conference from September 08-09 is mandatory.

Scope of work: Volunteers will work closely with OCP Policy Center in the run-up of the event and assist in a wide array of logistical and administrative tasks during the weekend of the conference, including but not limited to security, guest relations, production, transportation assistance, dinners, and interviews. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to participate in parts of the official program.

Please note that this is a non-paid volunteer position for a period of approximately four to six days based on volunteers’ availability and starting September 6th to September 09th. The organizers will provide all meals; however, we ask that you arrange your own travel and accommodation during your stay in Marrakesh. Please, take into consideration the fact that we will begin phone interviews in mid-August, therefore, thank you for making sure your phone number is mentioned on your CV and cover letter. All applicants will be notified of the decision no later than Thursday, August 31st, 2016.
