Sahel Development Summit: Moving beyond military containment

Almost ten years after the beginning of the security crisis in the Sahel, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger face a graver predicament than ever before. In the throes of multiple insurgencies, they and their foreign patrons, including France, have shown the limits of military containment.

To launch the report, the Policy Center for the New South and Atlantic Council Africa Center will organize an event on Thursday, December 9 from 08:00 p.m. to 09:30 p.m. (GMT+1) under the banner of “Sahel: Moving beyond military containment”, reflecting on the challenges and opportunities at the intersection of Security, Economy and Development.

This panel will take place in English and will be broadcasted live via the ACAC and the PCNS Facebook page and YouTube channel, with live coverage on Twitter.
