Why Think Tanks Matter to Policy Makers and the Public?

Institut Royal des Etudes Stratégiques (IRES) - Rabat

Building up on last year’s Global Go To Think Tank launch event, the Royal Institute of Strategic Studies and the OCP Policy Center in partnership with the Lauder Institute will be holding an event about “Why Think Tanks Matter to Policy Makers and the Public”.

While the number of think tanks is increasing, the interaction between these institutions and the policy making process remains blurry. The Think Tank Launch Event on January 27th aims at discussing the major role think tanks play in the policy making world but also in civil societies around the world.

Speakers will explore the evolving role of think tanks and try to understanding the link between them and policy makers.

The event will simultaneously be taking place in other cities to establish global networks of think tank communities in order to improve policy making around the world.

It will be concluded by the results of the Global Go To Think Tank Index from 2015.

The Global Go To Think Tank Index is the result of an international survey of over 1,950 scholars, public and private donors, policy makers, and journalists who helped rank more than 6,500 think tanks using a set of 18 criteria developed by The Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP). The purpose of the index is to help improve the profile and performance of think tanks while highlighting the important work they do for governments and civil societies around the world.

This event will be in french.
