Held from 28 August – 2 September, 2016 in Stockholm, World Water Week is  a leading annual global event for addressing the planet’s water issues and related concerns of international development that is organized by the Stockholm International Water Institute. The theme for this year’s edition is « Water for Sustainable Growth », which falls within the lines of SIWI’s vision of a water wise world: « A world where water is shared and allocated sustainably, equitably and efficiently, to meet everyone’s basic needs. »

The COP 22 Scientific Committee is organizing a workshop on Climate Finance, in light of the COP 22 taking place in Marrakech next November. This will allow for a deeper understanding of the role that Climate Finance can play in assisting economies transition into low carbon economies. Stabilizing the global climate has become one of the most urgent challenges and alleviating climate change is today an international priority. However, it requires a cross-disciplinary approach taking into consideration science, economics, society, politics, as well as moral and ethical dimensions.

Food security is a central issue for developing countries, particularly those of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). In this region, wheat is a very important and strategic commodity component. More than a pillar of food security, wheat is also a pillar of economic and social stability. 

Casablanca is a city of superlatives: it is the largest Moroccan city, the most dynamic economic hub of the country, it hosts its largest commercial port and 60% of its industrial units, though it is also its densest, most populated, most congested, and most problematic city. In less than a century, Casablanca has witnessed radical transformations both in its urban and social configuration; what used to be a small harbor city became one of the most dynamic and fastest growing regions in North Africa.
