Déjeuner-débat avec Mathieu Pellerin, Chercheur associé au Programme Afrique Subsaharienne de l’Ifri

Quatre ans après la mise en production du bloc de Jubilee, un premier bilan de la gouvernance des ressources pétrolières au Ghana peut être dressé. Les conditions sont réunies pour que le Ghana fasse du pétrole une aubaine, ce qui n’est pourtant pas encore le cas, tant en vertu des difficultés économiques que rencontre le pays que par la désillusion de la population à l’égard de l’exploitation pétrolière et de ses retombées.

The Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) and OCP Policy Center will jointly hold a roundtable on the current economic and strategic geopolitical challenges and opportunities the African continent faces and represents, on March 9^th, 2016 at OCP Policy Center, Rabat.  

The German Marshall Fund of the United States and the OCP Policy Center are co-organizing a presentation of one of the Atlantic Currents chapters. This presentation will take place on Wednesday 17^th February in Brussels.

Since the beginning of the post-colonial period, illicit flows in fragile states in West and North Africa have undermined and eroded the already weak stability of the greater Sahara region. The existence of these illicit trafficking routes, together with historical grievances, are having widespread consequences on transatlantic security and making international engagement difficult and ineffective in finding sustainable, long-term solutions to it. Phenomena such as the Arab Spring and the collapse of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime have contributed to political instability and growth of extremism across the broader Sahel.
